Good News for Tribal Farmers Under “Indiramma Jalaprabha Scheme”
The Telangana government has unveiled a groundbreaking initiative aimed at empowering tribal farmers in the state. Under the ‘Indiramma Jalaprabha Scheme,’ solar pump sets will be provided to tribal farmers with a 100% subsidy. Additionally, under the provisions of the Forest Rights Act, the government will bear the cost of drilling boreholes and installing motors for approximately 2.30 lakh farmers cultivating land up to four acres. The unit cost per farmer has been set at ₹6 lakh.
The scheme will be implemented in a phased manner, with funding allocated in the state budget. Notably, 40% of the scheme’s funding will be sourced from the Central Government. This initiative is expected to significantly boost agricultural productivity in tribal areas and improve the livelihood of farmers.

New Welfare Schemes and Beneficiary Survey
The Telangana government is gearing up to launch several welfare schemes, including Rythu Bharosa, Indiramma Atmiya Bharosa, new ration cards, and Indiramma Manas schemes. To ensure these schemes reach the intended beneficiaries, the government has initiated a comprehensive field survey starting today.
Chief Secretary Shanthikumari has instructed officials to conduct Gram Sabhas and enter data between January 21st and 24th. Based on this survey, a final list of beneficiaries will be prepared and approved by the ministers on January 25th. The new schemes aim to extend social and financial support to vulnerable sections of the population.
Family Tragedy in Hyderabad: Son Murders Father
In a tragic incident in the Shamirpet police station area of Hyderabad, a family dispute turned fatal. During an argument between a mother and daughter over a saree, the mother’s hand fell into an aquarium, causing injury. Enraged, the son, Narasimha, attacked the mother with a rock. When his father, Hanmanth, intervened, the son assaulted him as well.
Despite the father’s attempts to escape, Narasimha chased him down and brutally killed him using a brick and stone. The police have arrested the accused, and he has been remanded to custody. The incident has left the community in shock, highlighting the devastating impact of domestic disputes.
KTR Responds to ED Allegations: ‘Not a Single Rupee Was Misused’
Telangana Minister K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) took to Twitter to address allegations made by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with a case involving a ₹46 crore transaction. KTR emphasized the transparency of the financial dealings, stating, “We conducted a bank-to-bank transaction for FEO, and not a single rupee was misused. This case is a result of political conspiracy.”
KTR further expressed pride in Hyderabad’s growing reputation and reiterated his commitment to strengthening the city’s brand. He assured the public that the truth would prevail and pledged to continue his fight against baseless accusations.
Hyderabad Constable Injured in Bike Accident
A Hyderabad police constable, Shivraj Manja, sustained severe injuries while returning home after duty. The incident occurred near Narayanaguda, where his throat was severely cut, causing heavy bleeding. Local residents who noticed the injured constable acted promptly, rushing him to the hospital for treatment.
Shivraj is currently receiving medical attention, and his condition is reported to be stable. The incident has raised concerns about road safety and the risks faced by law enforcement personnel.
Gang of Thieves Arrested in Shadnagar
In a major breakthrough, the Shadnagar police, along with the Shamshabad Special Operations Team (SOT), arrested an inter-state gang of thieves. The gang had duped a man named Raju at an IDBI ATM on Jadcharla Road on August 5, stealing ₹2.42 lakh in cash by swapping his card.
Following extensive investigations, the police apprehended the culprits on Wednesday. They recovered ₹2.38 lakh in cash and seized 14 ATM cards from the gang members. The operation highlights the swift action taken by the Telangana police to curb financial crimes.
CM Revanth Reddy Embarks on Foreign Tour
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has commenced an eight-day foreign tour aimed at boosting the state’s development prospects. Starting with Singapore, the CM will inspect sports universities and stadiums equipped with international facilities. He is also scheduled to meet industrialists to explore investment opportunities.
On January 20th, CM Reddy will travel to Switzerland to attend the World Economic Forum in Davos. The trip aims to attract global investments to Telangana by signing agreements and showcasing the state’s growth potential.
Weather Update: Cold Wave to Persist for Three More Days
The Meteorological Department has issued a cautionary alert for Telangana residents, predicting a continuation of the cold wave for the next three days. The dip in minimum temperatures is attributed to winds blowing from the east and southeast, accompanied by foggy conditions.
Residents have been advised to exercise caution while traveling. Meanwhile, moderate rainfall is expected in Chittoor, Annamaya, Tirupati, Prakasam, and Nellore districts of Andhra Pradesh due to the influence of surface circulation.
